Filename Rename

i have files that are rmvb. In order to convert them to AVI they need to be in rm; which is simple, rename the file to .rm... now, before i had real one player installed the filename = the display name. This was good cause if i just went "right-click, then rename" it would rename the whole file or me. I didn't realize at the time i was installing real one that that display name would change in just "nameofthefile" without the extension .rmvb, and now i cannot rename the file to .rm, what happens is the file is called blablabla.rm.rmvb, and thats just plain stupid. I don't want to uninstall real one, or unassociate the file from real one; what can I do?. Is there a windows program that could do this for me or is there any "file rename" programs out there that I can use?

im sorry; im not smart enough to know those things; it's sooo hard to know where things go around here.

 

what the heck, it's in software! I better get some decent replys , if not im reposting it in general. (or some other that seems better to put this topic in )

 

and what the heck is up with the emoting limit... thats pretty lame..

Do you have explorer set up to hide file extensions of known file types? If so, set it up so that file extensions aren't hidded and then rename the file.
