The Smith Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) AMD have had a mixed year financially but generally positive considering and that's reflected in their share price. Stock price is as high as it has been all year. Was lowest $1.86 in Jan and now $8.90. Has been steadily on the rise since March so the shareholders should be a bit happier. True. You can look at the graphs yourself here. Choose the 6months or 1year scale. In terms of performance or sales numbers? Last I checked AMD was doing pretty nicely in the HPC community and they are making a ton on the low/mid range consumer market. Yes. Currently, the top 3 super computers are based on AMD processors and the numbers seem impressive. If you compare the second and sixth rank, approximately twice as much performance is obtained with the Opteron 6-cores, with the same power consumption. The IBM Blue Gene solution is closer. But this is only to give you an idea. There are a ton of other factors that must be accounted. Maybe someone else could elaborate on this. Edit: In the last weeks, a super computer has been deployed where I study. It's ranked 63th. Hedghawg71 Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Ya Nvidia right now has nothing really to show for themselves as far as video cards go. so ATI pretty much dominated x-mas video card season Yep, AMD pretty much kicked nvidia in the ding-ding without a warning!
