Iggy Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 (edited) Hey all, I just got my SP97 installed completely yesterday, but haven't been able to fully test it until today. Well, I'm getting 44c load @ 1.8 volts and 2.4ghz with the tornado @ 2900-3000 rpm using ceramique. Not bad for a near one ghz overclock on air I'd say. Installation was a bit tricky, but it's well worth it-this thing kicks booty. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting the best in air cooling; this sucker might even beat some w/c setups with a good fan, especially if you slap AS5 and a duct on it. Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Nice! Gotta love those JIUHB's, right? I wish I had one. But as you can see, my 2400+ AIUHB is pretty good too!

Iggy Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 They cost about $50. I got mine at jab-tech.com. JIUHB and AIUHB are the ends of stepping codes.
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Yeah, they're just the stepping. In reality they don't really mean anything. They just tell which batch of cores the chip came from. Since chips from the same batch tend to perform the same, certain steppings become famous for their overclocking ability, etc. The JIUHB is possibly the most famous. They were initially rated for 2500+ speeds, but then amd decided to make the 2500+ processors out of bartons, not t-breds, so the jiuhb's got demoted to 1700+ and later 1800+ processors. The AIUHB, which I have, also overclocks extremely well because it is rated for 2400+, just a little short of the JIUHB. Iggy Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 (edited) Well, my earlier tests were not so correct. Now I'm getting 47c load and I'm having some stability issues. I'll see if I can sort things out. Edited January 10, 2004 by Iggy
ccokeman Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Just remmember to give the ceramique 200 hrs to settle in. It will get warm but then will cool back down. Gotta get an sp97. If its anywhere close to as good as my 900a ill be happy.
Sly_C Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 u think they still ahve some juihb's iggy? cause my dad is wanting me to build him a comp and i am gonna put a 1700 in it and if i can find a juihb this time i'll put it in my comp and put my 1700 (non juihb) in his. its not going to be oced so i think that would a waste of a juihb. don't u? Iggy Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Ok, new findings I've upped the voltage the 1.825 and I'm stable a 2.4, but I'm getting load temps of 48c in Prime95. I can boot at 2.5 ghz, but I'm going to have to slam like 2 volts on it to make it stable, which is something I don't want to do until I get some AS5 and a duct. Should I back off the o/c or am I ok with a load temp of 48? Â Sly_C, you probably don't want to go dolling out the extra cash to get a JIUHB if you're not going to o/c it. It would just give you low temps, and that's all. The only place to aquire a JIUHB these days is on ebay; I got lucky when I found them for sale on gameve.com.
