IDE Emulation to AHCI

Recommended Posts

I have had Win7 and xubuntu installed for a while now, but like an idiot I forgot to enable AHCI in my bios options. I have a DFI Lanpart UT X58-T3eH8. I figured that I could just get the AHCI drivers off of DFi's website, and slap in my Win7 dvd then enter repair mode and screw around in there. Well, no luck. No matter which driver I choose, only one installs correctly but then the Win7 install DVD still won't recognize my install. I'm using the GNU GRUB bootloader, if it makes any difference.

TL;DR: How do I get an already installed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate to play nice with AHCI?

Thanks!

You just have to install the AHCI driver in Windows then reboot and enable it.
