PC Games With SecureROM And Other Things

I was reading reviews of the PC version of Bioshock on Amazon. It seems that quite a few people have had major problems with the SecureROM/DRM protection. I know it's probably annoying, but is it really that bad? People are saying they couldn't install it, it causes bugs, kills their dvd rom drives, etc. Same thing with Crysis Maximum Edition. Far Cry 2 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 are the most current PC games I have, but I don't think they have DRM crap on them. Thanks.

If it were me I would just avoid anything with corporate endorsed spyware.

:P

Bioshock is only $20 on Steam (you might be able to get it cheaper around christmas?) secure-rom free if you don't mind not having the physical media.

I've read that even the Steam version has some sort of SecureROM crap on it. I'll probably just buy it at WalMart, since they have the BioShock/Oblivion bundle for only $20 (even though I don't care about Oblivion).

That's not true about STEAM; STEAM enforces its own piracy prevention on its games.

I've never had an issue with any DRM with Bioshock. I've beaten the game a couple times and never had an issue, perhaps people are nitpicking just to nitpick. Of course, I don't constantly reinstall games all the time but I haven't had an issue with any DRM of any kind. Just get the game and don't worry about DRM, its a nonissue in most cases.

It is indeed true for Steam that Bioshock only uses Steams anti-piracy; however, this is not true for all Steam games, probably very few. FarCry2, Red Alert 3, Batman: Arkham Asylum...all SecuROM infested; however, I only have Far Cry 2, and have had no problems with SecuROM affecting my PC. Nothing noticable atleast, I still use Daemon Tools...

i have played, tons of games and never honestly had a DRM problem. what kind of issues do people seriously have? it seems like the people who have problems have other issues with computers in general ..

Had Bioshock for ages, Not one problem with DRM, just install the legit game and use a No DVD, there was some comotion early on that you could only install the game 5 times, but 2k has removed that limitation long ago. Same story with farcry 2, no problems what so ever ;) Enjoy gaming dude!

i just installed borderlands(uses secureROM) not to long ago with a crappy dvd burner, and i didnt have any problems with the install. i kinda like the fact that i dont have to have a cd key for my borderlands copy.. cause i tend to loose manuals.. like i did with CODWAW for a few months

Bioshock's DRM was limited amount of installs - was either 5 or 10. Supposedly they have since increased it.

Speaking of Bioshock and DRM...
