I really dont Understand Intel?

Recommended Posts

Specifically LGA 775 ,I5,i7

I mean they keep making processors for each? it's really hard to tell what their gonna stick with and what not.......

Like....is LGA 775 gonna hang around? they keep making stuff for them, or is it all i5 i7 stuff now?

775= to be phased out of the desktop market (probably)

1156 and 1366 were announced at the same time so they aren't likely to get phased out, while they seem similar now once 1366 has 6 core processors they will be very different platforms.

1156=powerful mainstream, quad core, dual channel all any consumer could really need

1366=excessive, 6-core, triple channel for people with money burning a hole in their pockets and i guess virtualization(?) and probably some other stuff.

I don't think its confusing.

well I have a 1366 setup, but the 6-cores are going to probably be $1000, The quad core 1366 (price of entire rig) aren't that much more than the 1156s so I was just making generalizations based on how i assume intel views it.

and gigabyte is making a new p45 board it is the ep45-ud5 ..nothing more that 24 phases and smart 6 ..(all the good stuff on p55 except for sli )
