OCFreak Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 From three different benchmark reviews I have seen that the 5770 should get between 15500 and 16500 in 3DMark06 ... of course that is all dependent on other attributes ... but I am getting some serious underrated findings. I am scoring at stock clocks about 14400 ... two thousand points less than what I have seen from other reviews etc. I overclocked the card to the max that CCC would allow (960/1445) to see what I would get, and I turned out a 147xx. What gives? I am just about to run Vantage to compare another benchmark. I realize that these are synthetic, but two thousand points different? Something seems fishy here. jlqrb Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 What are you full system specs ? CPU is a big part of the score in 3DMark06.
OCFreak Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=762963 Full specs here ... and in sig ... but now with a 5770 instead of the 4770.
OCFreak Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I just completed Vantage for comparison: OCC score for OCed 5770: 110xx My score for OCed 5770: 9968 Quite low as well. I realize the CPU is a factor but both of these benches are miles off what I am getting.
Hemidare Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 If you are going up against intel cpus then that is probably the difference right there. If you are using the same cpu as the review then there might be some other factor such as your motherboard or something. I have done what you are doing right now. Scratching your head over why does my video card or some other piece of hardware not match up to a review i have seen online. The answer is to enjoy your hardware and stop worrying about it, unless there is something wrong with your videocard. If you think you have been sold a bum video card RMA it. jlqrb Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) What is your CPU Score ? Mine scores 4945 and the I7's score higher, which is the processor the reviewers used during the 5770 reviews. pezcore Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Yeah, you should be looking at the GPU score, not the overall score when the processors are different...
rourkchris Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 There are a lot of variables from your system to the reviews I've seen. You're using DDR2, dual channel, and an AMD CPU without a lot of cache. Most reviews are using i7 920s with 8 threads and more cache, DDR3, and Tri channel memory. That could potentially add up to a couple of thousand points. There's so many statistical anomolies with 3DMark 06 and Vantage. You can run either 100 times and not score the same amount twice. I ran a pair of 5870s at 975/1325 and scored better than I did when I set them at 1000/1325. I think the new 5xxx series requires you to find a sweet spot for your overclocked settings to attain your best 3DMark score. IVIYTH0S Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) 3dmark schmark, as long as it plays games fine who cares what a benchmark says, ENJOY your card you bought it to product beautiful graphics not numbers, I'll gladly give you a calculator for an even trade Edited October 29, 2009 by IVIYTH0S
Fight Game Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 all the reasons mentioned above. Even still, you can't really compare to one review. Average your result with that of several others, all using (more) similar components.
Waco Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) I don't see anything wrong with your scores at all... You're comparing an Athlon II versus an i7...and coming within 10%. I don't see that as anything but perfectly normal. Edited October 29, 2009 by Waco
