Vaelen2001 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I'm fixing a family friends PC, well her hard drive is dying and I've already replaced it. The out of PC hard drive it hooked up as a USB connection to my Netbook and I have recovered files from it. I need to know how to find the Microsoft Office key on the hard drive so I can reinstall her software ( she lost her original cd's ) I know of magic jellybean keyfinder but that only works on a system that is running the operating system that has the registry keys that contain the CD key. Any ideas of how to recover a CD key buried in the registry of a USB connected SATA drive? --vaelen2001
Zertz Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 This application sounds like you can feed it registry files and it'll do the rest. Never tried it myself though
oldfett Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) Magical Jelly Bean can be used on drives hooked up via USB. Just point it to the drive (in some instances the Windows folder on the drive if it doesn't work). Open the program and go to "Tools" and then "Load Hive".
