Fallout 3 crashing

So, I installed Win7 Ultimate 64 bit, and installed Fallout 3. Flawless; Installed GFW live and it told me I had a game update to do (1.7). I did the update, and now, after reeboting, after launching the game, you can hear the theme for half a second, with no picture, and then it crashes to desktop. Anyone else have a problem like this? Any suggestions?

I had this problem with the initial video (upon starting a new game) with Vista Business x64. I tried the patches, I tried different codecs. It's a shame they still haven't gotten this all the way sorted out. I haven't had any trouble running it in XP SP3...

So, it worked just fine until it updated through GFW? Ouch... :(

Video/chipset/sound drivers installed? It runs fine on my machines.

I'll try reinstalling chipset, sound and video..

EDIT: Did not work.

ASDF - FIXED

I remember before applying the patch seeing a info bar: an application isn't compatible with Windows Ultimate theme (or some other theme) - Switching to Windows Basic Theme. I switched to it manually - and it worked.

I got a second problem - Can't connect to live - your region might not be supported. I knew about this problem; disabling xfire solved it.
