sack_patrol Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Can I put my old Sapphire 2600 in crossfire with my xfx radeon 4870 somehow? Something like the ATI+Nvidia thing that people do...one for phisix and other for whatever...something like that..? Anything? The sapphire is 512MB GDDR3. sack_patrol Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) Oh that sux balls. Ok, what will happen if I stick it in my mobo and put it crossfire? Regardless of...well everything. Will my pc blow up, or stop time...or tell me to gtfo with the wimpy gpu I think I read that if I do that the gpus will both run at the slower gpu's clocks. But can't something be done (if possible at all to do anything) to make one run at it's normal clock (4870), and the wimpy one to do other stuff? tkrow21 Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 That's only if they're a GPU of the same core.' Otherwise, you wait for Hydra.

tkrow21 Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Excellent. I can't believe you're giving up like this. You see, this is the type of mentality that gets people nowhere when they expect to get somewhere. Don't accept it, fight it. Fight for your right to run two different cards together. We should be able to mix and match without discrimination! What is this? Nvidia cannot work in harmony with ATI? ATI can't even work with old ATI? This is racism and prejudice against age. FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS!
sack_patrol Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I actually tried it... just put the 2600 on my mobo...and corssfired it with 4870...What happened was that it seemd ok in device manager...it got recognized...seems that the drivers are ok. 4870 has it's clocks...2600 has it's clocks as well. Idk what exactly I'm looking for though. I might run 3DMark06 or something and see if it did anything or if it's actually just a piece of hardware showing some specs in the os. It is going to be such an interesting market if it can excel in what it says it should
