InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Hello. I just got my new Radeon 9600 and Vantec Iceberg fan. I've got a few questions. First, I removed the little plastic things that held the old hs on, but how do I remove it? I've heard that I should place a credit card between the hs and card, and then twist a screwdriver, not pull up. Is that right? Also, the Vantec came with it's own thermal paste, but I also have my own Arctic Silver III. Which should I use?

Paranoid Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 I put Ceramique on mine when I installed it yesterday. Works great, great overclocking ability. Try it with a credit card, the plastic won't damage the Video Card, so it is a good way to do it.
InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 what the heck?!?!?!?!?!?! The holes on the Iceberg aren't even close to the holes on the Radeon. The box and web page specifically said it fits the Radeon 9600 and 9600 Pro. Can someone tell me what's wrong here???
tbone2sk Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 I've got the iceberg and the radeon 9600pro. It fits in the holes. There are 2 kinds of icebergs the pro and the non pro. I have the non pro because the pro is for mostly the FX cards
InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 (edited) I also have the non pro. The pro page said it fits nVidia cards. Anyway, I just got my RMA number. I'm trying to reattach the stock hs, but it doesn't look like I can. Those little holding clips just won't go through *update* Ok, I got the stock hs back on. Now, what fan should I get to replace it? Edited January 8, 2004 by InvaderTrax

kobalt Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 You can always use a mix of thermal epoxy and grease, i've never used it but some peoples did with good results (that's if you want to remove it later on) if not thermal epoxy alumina is great
