Light Gaming Media Rig

Recommended Posts

Hello all.

I'm building a new PC and would like some pointers on the hardware I chose.

I won't be gaming alot. I have a steam account and all the HL2 Engine games and I play TrackMania.

I would also like to hook this up via HDMI to my HDTV.

I already have a BenQ 21" LCD Screen picked up a few years ago.

I'm not set on these parts. If there is an AMD route that is better and cheaper, post it up!

Looks like I need a Mouse and Keyboard as well.

How about AMD PhenomII 550? Outperforms the E8400 (right not E7XXX) and comes @ $100 or 720 @ $118!!

Proccy + mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDet...st=Combo.271891

DDR3 RAM would be good since its the same price!!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227495 (Cheaper!!)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231278

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227483

Maybe you could do with the onboard gfx for a while!!

Can I use DDR3 RAM? The mobo says it can take DDR2.

If it doesn't really matter I'm going to use this RAM OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G10664GK - Retail

I've been out of PC games forever. I do have a steam account, and last i checked it had all the Source games. Maybe I'll play newer stuff if this rig permits?

The res. is 1680 x 1050. This is it. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx...N82E16824014105

Right now I got that AMD + Mobo Combo and that RAM.

New price is $501.93.

OMG did you already buy that stuff?? I suggested a DDR2 board with DDR3 RAM.. extremely sorry!!!

I think an entry level graphics like the one you had been suggested would be good if you do not game much!

It's all good. Nothing has been bought yet.

Well I do plan to get back into the CoD Series and some CS:S again.
