Jiv Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hi guys, Basically I bought an Intel x25-m g2 from a company in USA. Prior to paying I emailed them plenty of times regarding the drive and even made them comfirm it is a retail version. The saleman in the email stated that it was a retail version and that the company will handle the warranty claims with Intel if there were any problems with the drive in the future. The last email prior to paying, I even summarize what I was suppose to be getting (retail x25-m g2 80gb) and paid. The company did not have the 80gb version on ebay so they asked me to give them their SKU number from their website and I paid via paypal. The product arrived on Monday, it was an OEM version. I'm not too fussed since I can probably buy an adapter for 15 dollars, but the drive came in looking like this. After emailing them regarding this issue, they claim that they will be able to refund me however they wont cover shipping cost since I'm in Australia. Frankly I'd be stupid to pay another 60USD to get it shipped back. Is there anything I can do about this? Would paypal/ebay be able to help? And do you guys think it would be fair if I asked them to do a partial refund for 1) OEM version instead of Retail 2) Condition of the drive This way I would not need to waste money sending the drive back. This is what their salesperson said. 'Thank you, for the updated information. We do apologize the product is a OEM its the C1 VERSION with full manufacture warranty for 3yrs. You can return it for a refund, please let us know we are not able to issue a pick up or pay for return shipping since you are international. Sincerely, Maricela' Hopefully you guys who are more experienced than me could give some advice on what I can do. Right now the company is delaying the issue by only sending 1-2 emails every working day and dragging it. Thanks
IVIYTH0S Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 does it work??
Jiv Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 does it work?? It does, but no bracket so I've to buy one my self. Would I still be able to claim warranty in the future with Intel even with all the scratches and stains?
scr4wl Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Wait you purchased a New product and they sent you that? If I were you I'd be extremely pissed off, and I'd be on the phone with them telling them how pissed off I was. Where did you order this from? Contact Intel's customer service and see if they'll allow you to warranty it. If they won't contact the company you got that fund, and DEMAND they send you a retail drive like you paid for. Worst case scenario is you'll be left with a working drive and you'll have to purchase a $15 bracket.

I told them I wanted them to either partially refund the ssd and I'll keep it, or a full refund, they say they'll only refund the product and NOT the shipping cost. I paid 60usd for express shipping to Aus, I'll have to pay about atleast 25-30 dollars to ship it back to them. That way, I'll basically be burning 80-90usd for nothing. I've sent them in email asking them to tell me their final stance on this issue, if it is not satisfactory, I'll have to ask paypal for help. IVIYTH0S Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 did they give you any kind of serial number that you can run through intel's site to see if it's legit?? AND did you run any software on it to check that it's an Intel SSD
fire_storm Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I'd call them up and tell them that the drive came in horrible condition and be very demanding for a refund but not too demanding otherwise they'll just hang up the phone and won't care about your problem. But before you do that it may be a good idea to find out if Intel will honor the warranty still and weather the scratches will void the warranty on the drive. I doubt Paypal will be able to do anything because most of the time they just don't care.
Jiv Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I've benched it with HDtune Pro, and also checked the version on PC Wizard. Its an Intel Drive. They refuse to discuss the problem with me on their website's live chat and insist on using email. I've given them a deadline until 12pm 22/10/2009 their time. Sigh, its kinda annoying but hopefully they'll be willing to settle this peacefully. I've talked to ebay and they claim that Paypal will be able to help. But do you have a serial number that you can check with Intel about your warranty I'd say if you can't get them to pay the return shipping and the driver works fine, and has a full warranty. I'd just keep it.

They just refused to pay for shipping and state that if I want anything done, I need to cover all the shipping expenses. Going to start using the drive but will still try ebay/paypal's buyers protection policy. Just had a chat with Ebay and they claim paypal will still be willing to help. Btw, for anyone of you who are interested in which company this was. www.mwave.com Decent prices, extremely crappy customer service

Though I don't see an issue with a working Intel SSD that is what it says it is, performs like it says it should, and has it's full warranty. Just ask mwave for the serial, product and whatever other numbers they'd need to give you to prove that it's a legit Intel SSD and also to prove that the full warranty is supporting the drive
