insan3 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) So i posted back a while back about just building my system and i had my cpu+ stock cpu cooler running at 43C idle. so i went out and bought the cooler master v8 to replace the stock and it was still running the same numbers as the stock cpu cooler. some people said to wait a couple weeks to see if it changed and it hasnt. most people get the same cpu around 30C idle. So what should i do ? Edited October 20, 2009 by insan3
Baulten Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 The temp probe might be stuck. There's nothing you can do. Alternatively (I'm not insinuating you're dumb or anything, just making sure of these things), you may have: Forgot to remover the plastic from the heatsink base. Installed the thermal compound incorrectly. There's some other stuff that could be wrong. How are you measuring your CPU temp? insan3 Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 core temp
_TheAlexO Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 core temp use a few other programs just to make sure. SpeedFan, AMD OverDrive, or any others you might know. You could have a stuck sensor like i had a while back . If none of those things come up with any results, try re seating your v8. Waco Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 43 C idle doesn't sound out of the question for that CPU. Do you have Cool 'n Quiet enabled? What are the load temps?
insan3 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) how do u reset the v8 ? 39/40C idle and full load is 57 to 60C. i used the bios, amd overdrive, and core temp. CnQ is enabled. Waco Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) What's your room temperature? Is your case well ventilated? Edited October 21, 2009 by Waco
insan3 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 room temp is at 22c to 24c and yes my case is well ventilated.
insan3 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 i am thinking of buying another 1 to see if i still get same temps.

What are the load temps? your right it isnt too high , but my 940 at 3.9 has much lower temps with the same level of cooler (approx.) now that i think about it. its obviously not a stuck sensor or your temps wouldnt be fluctuating during load/idle. But i still think your best bet is to take off the v8 and re apply it. If your temps are still the same, then you will probably just have to live with them. (that is, if you installed correctly)
Waco Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 That honestly sounds pretty normal to me. My 720 runs a little bit cooler than that with a relatively beefy Opteron cooler on it with similar room temps.
insan3 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) the first time i did myself and i was getting the same numbers as now, so i took it to the computer service at tigerdirect and they had the same result as me. it just bugs me i wish it was 10C lower for the idle and load, then i would be happy.
