ccokeman Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 You do have to be reasonable with your expectations as well. The latest AMD GPU Clock tool at Guru3D will do the trick for you. I use AMD GPU Clock tool to set the clock speeds and MSI Afterburner to set the fan speed.
pezcore Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I've used the AMD GPU Clock Tool with success, but is there a way for it to remember my settings? It seems that every time I reboot they are back to stock; and even if I save the profile in MSI Afterburner with the OC'd numbers it goes back to normal (725/1000)

You do have to be reasonable with your expectations as well. The latest AMD GPU Clock tool at Guru3D will do the trick for you. I use AMD GPU Clock tool to set the clock speeds and MSI Afterburner to set the fan speed. That's exactly how I use both programs myself. I've used the AMD GPU Clock Tool with success, but is there a way for it to remember my settings? It seems that every time I reboot they are back to stock; and even if I save the profile in MSI Afterburner with the OC'd numbers it goes back to normal (725/1000) I think that's a good thing. A safety feature in case you go over your cards limits. I'm unsure how to save the profile of a successful overclock.

sack_patrol Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 (edited) hey actionstan. Are the clocks stated in ur sig working...cuz I tried ocing my 4870 and I can't seem to get much...830,1100 if failing 10k. IS 790, 1100 worth shortening the life span of mah gpu? Also, what is ur steam acc so we can l4d. I have a feeling that ur worth playing with. (unlike random noobs that rage 10k everywhere). EDIT: I tried 790,110 and it seems stable. The uped it to 800,1100 and it's still working fine. Although I am still not sure if it's a good oc (800,1100). If it is, I'll go ahead and flash those clocks.
