OCFreak Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hi guys, I am just about to get my 5850 from NewEgg ... but I have one concern. My PSU. It is an Antec EarthWatts 500W, and is fairly new. As you have already imagined what my question is ... will the PSU be enough for this card?
rourkchris Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I believe a 5850 uses about 170W at load. Does your 500W PSU have two PCI-E connectors? I prefer not to use adapters myself.
OCFreak Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) I thought it used 151W at load! Anyway, yes my PSU has two 6-Pin PCI-Express connections and two 12v rails. This is it here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817371007 Edited October 16, 2009 by OCFreak

OCFreak Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I do, but neither XFX or Sapphire are in stock ... And apparently neither is HIS, I just added it to my cart, went to pay and gave me a message saying it was not sufficiently stocked. Great. The waiting game. Your PSU is a good brand too, so I'm sure it will be more than fine.
IVIYTH0S Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 HIS is a good company unless you want to wait. HIS has a 2 year warranty (atleast my old 4890 did)
