Crow47 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I have never been so, well frankly, so appalled at the product that has been delivered to me, the customer. Games for Windows Live is S***, Rockstar Club is S***, and to top it all off, the game won't let me max the graphics settings. It thinks it knows better than me. This is just so laughable. I could get over the poor service implementation if I could just MAX MY OWN GRAPHICS. I found several threads online on how to use a command line -norestrictions, but everything they tell me doesn't work. I have tried making a commandline.txt file and placing it in the GTA IV program files folder, no dice. I have tried creating a shortcut and appending the -norestrictions on to the target, but no luck either. So guys, what am I doing wrong? greengiant912 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 No clue man. I got my copy for the 360. I played a little of GTA3 but that was it. GTA4 was pretty good. The DLCs are like full fledged expansion packs too...
CowKing Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 did you press the "~" key to do the command?

Crow47 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 I've tried the ~ key in the menus, do I have to do it in game? *EDIT* That doesn't work anywhere.
ocre Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) is the commandline.txt in the same directory as LaunchGTAIV.exe? make sure it is, or move it to there then open it up in notepad, copy this line below and paste it in the notepad -availablevidmem 2.9 Delete all other commands then save as: commandline.txt you can copy and paste the name as i exactly copied it then pasted it from my file. So that way it cant be fudged up anyway the above command multiplies the video ram by the 2.9 referenced which should give you enough memory to max the game completely out. It will raise your memory on the option screen so you will know right off the bat if it works. Norestrictions has been known to give issues with textures not loading sometimes. I use this command and it works perfectly. You may have to raise the number (above 2.9) if you still cant max it out, but that will give you a lot more memory and you should see it on the screen. Let me know if it works You will like GTA4 PC, i love it and its hella fun Edited October 16, 2009 by ocre
Crow47 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Thanks, that was a good idea, but apparently it's a problem related to the 4870's. The part where NONE of the command line stuff works. What a load of ****. Oh well, looks like I'm gonna get rid of this game, I refuse to waste any more time with this POS. Anybody want GTA IV cheap? slick2500 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Buy it for 360 or PS3, way to much DRM with the pc version.
Krieg1337 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) ... Way to insult the OP. +1 Really Cow, keep those posts to yourself. Thank you. And Consoles seem like the only thing where GTA4 is workable without issues. Edited October 16, 2009 by Darkfuneral1337

Krieg1337 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Really Cow, keep those posts to yourself. Thank you. Did I miss something? He was asking if he pressed ~ to bring up the console. We all know he did that and knows how to do it.
