WHAAAHOOO!!!!

With the advice of some people on the board i switched my thermal compound to OCZ Freeze rather than Artic Silver switch i obviously had installed previously. I also vertically mounted my cpu fans instead of having it horizontal. This is the outcome!! (@IDLE)

Just by changing thermal paste? WOW that is pretty amazing.

I just switched to Arctic Silver 5 ... from the stock and it made a big difference ... so what is so special about the OCZ product? You have me interested now.

I also changed the direction of the cpu fans air flow. They are now shooting straight up to the BIG BOY fan on the top of my case. From my own experience and a few others i know i believe OCZ freeze just works better with quad core processors. All my case fans are set to max. No one can say the results will always be exactly the same. Not all cases have good air flow etc.

damn your title sucking me in here....

You should have seen how much just the TIM switch made. I run AS5 too but if it was a big enough change I'd gladly give i up for OCZ's goop (like a 4-5 degree change respectively)

I finally received the remaining fans for my case today. I have am using an Antec Three Hundred, which came with a 120mm exhaust in the back and a 140mm exhaust in the top. I added in two 120mm fans to the front for intake and one to the side of the case for exhaust. Temps dropped 5C ... huge difference.

And yes, I did the same thing that you did. I now have my CPU can blowing up to the exhaust fan at the top, made a huge difference in temps. I think for now I will stick with AS5, perhaps when I upgrade again I will try freeze!
