N.E.A Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) if you are not going to run more than one video card , i say get x58-ud3r or msi x58 which does not feature sli , this way you can save a little money and put in a nice big video card or better cooler .. what say you ..? edit : WELCOME TO OCC.......... Fedz22 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Gigabyte X58 UD3r looks good, at first I didn't realize it was triple channel because of the 4 dimms so i always ruled it out but i see now that it is indeed tri-channel...nice and it's even cheaper, i will look at all the reviews with this one to see how reliable it is. My goal is to not over spend with features i don't need but keep the build as lean as possible with all quailty parts. HD 5870 would be really nice to put in there plus it would last me a while but $380 is kinda steep at the moment, hopefully prices will drop by christmas but not really holding my breathe on it. PS...Thanks for the Welcome
N.E.A Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 you can have the 6 dims board i think msi platinum or some thing like that , also asus p6t (none deluxe ) i like your thinking (bang for the buck ) i failed in bang for the buck stuff with the x58-ud5 it is great board but right now i am not running cf/sli but i am willing to once nvidia release gt300 to decide with which company to go with i like 5870/5850 performance in single conf. and in cf , but i think it will be like 4870 , which got beaten or matched by 260 216 so i will wait , but go for 5870 it is very nice card , but if nvidia release gt300 at the time you are going to buy the card i recommend checking them out .. good luck.. and thanks..
