Something in my PC makes a barely hearable high pitch sound

Recommended Posts

I noticed that my pc was making a high pitch squeal. It makes it only sometimes, and I don't know what exactly could be doing that. Any ideas?

It's not the fans 99.9% sure.

i made the mistake of enabling some temperature alarms in bios on my board the other day and the high pitched noise drove my sheila crazy "almost"...hahaha i have high frequency hearing loss due to to many years in field artillery and the construction trades so i couldn't hear a thing...:lol:... so it could possibly be your bios settings

btw some nvidia cards make a high pitched squeal under load so i'v been told...

No cathodes nor is it my monitor. If I stick my head in the PC i can hear the sound coming from somewhere inside.

It makes the sound for no reason, gpu is not stressed. When it is, the fan is simply going faster than it would be when it isn't on load and it's not a high pitched sound. :]

if its your fans. disconnect them one by one and see if it is one of them. if you think its your videocard, use a program like rivatuner that allows direct access to fan speed, you can turn the fan speed down and see if it changes the sound of the noise.

good luck!
