InvaderTrax Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 When I checked my computer, I noticed it was processing a strange WU. Has anyone ever seen one like this?
Reidhardt Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Nope, never seen anything like that. Only 100s, 250s, 500s, 2500s and now a 5000. Pic looks odd but cool.
tarkins Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Isn't it a wu from Genome@home? I have seen this once, but I chose "folding@home only" right after.

InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Isn't it a wu from Genome@home? Nope. It's set to F@H only
Dignan Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 I had one of those when my laptop was running GUI, I never saw one after that and I then switched to command line. I would also like to know.... Invader, a little off subject but why use GUI? If you are going for max points, the command line is like 15% faster I have found not including all the optomizations. With them it shaved like 1/3 off the WU time.
InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 (edited) Well, I'm very lazy, and don't have the time to set up a command line and make it a service. I don't have much DOS experience. I am going to exparament with it when I finish with my 450MHz PII. That's the one that'll really need every speed advantage Edited January 8, 2004 by InvaderTrax
Aristotle Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 No DOS knowledge required. It is very simple and you dont have to make it a service. Just double-click the f@h icon, type in the needed info it asks for, and your done. You have to be in windows for f@h to run. InvaderTrax Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 But will it automatically start folding when I boot up?
caffeinejunkie Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Well actually if you already have the gui client the command line will just start working once double clicked.
Kyuss Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 yah if you use Fire Daemon, which I use and it's real easy to set up.. or another program I've heard from a few called fahsi or something like that. From what they said that one was easy to setup as well. Then all you gotta do is put a -service flag in fire daemon/fahsi along with anyother conditions. The -service flag will start folding in the background even if no one is logged in on xp and it's sitting at the welcome screen. Of course you have to dl the command line client to do this because that's the actual prog your turning into a service.

I am going to experiment with it when I finish with my 450MHz PII.
