lh95 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'm wondering whether or not to upgrade my 9600GT to a 4890 or wait a while longer and save up even further for the 5870 Is the 5870 worth its price or should i stick with the 4890 thanks
N.E.A Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 (edited) what res do you play at ..? 5850 is very very good too.. edit : i saw you have 1440*900 display if you plan on upgrading to 20-24 i say get 5850 or 5870 the one you can get but if you do not plan on getting a new display then 4890 even 4890 will work fine on 1650*1050 or 1920*1080 but 5850 will give you more performance and 5870 as well ... but i say get 5850 skip 5870 and with the extra money you will save by doing that get 20-21 inch display .. finally if you are getting 2560*1600 5870 ... i know my words are confusing .. lh95 Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I play on my 19" which has a native resolution of 1400x900 but I'm not happy at all if it has the slightest lag which is why I'm looking to upgrade from the 9600GT

Do you use Vista or XP? Check my system out, I have a HD4870 and its worth it, I still get occasional lag, but that is due to Vista

IVIYTH0S Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'd get a 4870 1GB/260GTX or 4890/275GTX highest. Then again, the best idea would be to wait for the 5770 to come out :thumbs-up:

In fact, your video card is faster under Vista than XP for many many things...

Waco Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 i want to know what are these things .. Hm? Pretty much any game that stresses the card will run better under Vista/7...especially once you get into Crossfire setups or high FSAA / AF.
