mikael116 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Im going to be converting my FORMER gaming rig into a HTPC and Im running into confusion... Rig consists of the following Case: Antec 900 CPU: intel Q9550 [oc to 3.6] CPU cooler: Zalman 9700NT Mobo: EVGA 750i SLI FTW edition RAM: 2x2 gigs 1066 Mushkin Ascent + OCZ ram cooler GPU: EVGA 285gtx FTW 2 gig edition HD: WD Velociraptor 300 gig OS/Progs + Seagate barracuda 1tb 7200rpm 3gps/32 buffer BR/DVD: LG BR/DVD burner Sound card: HT/Omega Claro+ 7.1 pci Network card: EVGA Killer Xeno Pro pci-e PSU: Mushkin 800 watt modular OS: Windows XP pro 32 bit All of these parts are already purchased and installed and have been working fine for quite some time and Ive no interest in replacing them. This will become my media center and backup gaming rig. I need a pci TV tuner card as my only pci-e slot is taken up with my network card and I need it to work with my digital cable...I also need it to work with windows xp pro and be as relatively no hassle as possible...I dont need the baddest of the bad out there but I need it to be pretty straightforward and solid quality. Thanks in advance and I hope I included enough info for you guys.

paulktreg Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Hauppauge products are highly regarded, have a look at some of their stuff. A few users on OCC obviously use tuner cards but a better source of information would probably be a dedicated HTPC site. Google is your friend. pezcore Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 do you have any PCI-e 1x slots open? I have the ASUS PE9400 and it works great as an HD QAM tuner in WMC in Win7-- I don't know how it will work in xp though
