Hello guys I am here because I need the best help I can get from a few experienced users that come from this forum.

I want to build a new computer which I will be using for practically everything.

The only games I do play are Counter Stirke, CS:Source, Far Cry, Far Cry 2.

I need help putting together a computer that can allow me to play these games at max settings without lag while also not having to spend a lot of money.

I would like to save as much money as I can, since I am on a budget.

I Already Have:

Shark Case

Power Supply Ultra X-Connect 500W

CD-R

SONY DVD Burner

Western Digital 250GB

Western Digital Raptor 36GB 10000 RPM

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB035

Need:

Video Card

Mother Board

Cpu(AMD)

Memory

Thank you.

WELCOME TO OCC...............:)

for the cpu i think

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103680 this one is very very good

but if you can get this it will be better

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103649

for the board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128395 ddr2

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813130237

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131595

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813130233 ddr3

ram

ddr2 :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820220426

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227289

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227456

ddr3 :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820144382

just to tell ya , ddr3 = ddr2 there is no big difference between them in performance so

if i were you i would stick with ddr2 and 1066 speed is fast

for the card , do you have 19` display ..?

if so

then

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814143178

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127423

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102850 this will be very good if you have 20 inch and up displays

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121325

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150337

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814161244

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127441

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130435

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125288

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150323

now , if you have 20 and up get 4870-4850.gts 250

if you have smaller then any card of these will do

but i would stick with 4870

gts 250 is nice if you want to play physx enabled games

and i think it gives more performance than 4850 in far cry 2 i am not sure about that 100%

so , i guess x3 720 + 785g + ddr2 + (4870/gts250) is very good for ya

x2 is good too but as i said if you can get the x3 it will be better

but if you told us what is your budget we could have helped you better than this , i did include 4870 because maybe you will play crysis or a demanding game , i was playing crysis/warhead/fardry2 /fear

i said i will never play bioshock but i changed my mind ..

and if you get 4870 i think you will not need to upgrade to a new card till 1-3 years that if you want to play demanding games

but if you are 80 % certain that you will game lightly in the future then 4850/gts250/9800gt

good luck ..............................:)

The Ultra X-Connect 500W is quite dated now and doesn't come with any PCI-E connectors according to the link you provided. This means you are going to have to power the 4870 from the 4 pin peripheral connectors via two adapter cables which is never good. Make sure you use both the 4 pin peripheral cables provided with the power supply and give each 6 Pin PCI-E adaptor its own cable. The 4870 is only about 130W so you should be OK.

Cheers

Paul
