Did My Wu Vanish Into Wuafterlife?

Okay, so this is what happened:

I finished my second WU earlier today...it asks to connect to send it in...i click yes...it says it's sending.

Seems to be working fine, but then i notice no activity in the taskbar internet status icon. I'm on dialup, so i thought maybe i lost connection, so i try to load yahoo, and it works...i try these forums, it works, etc etc. So after 8 mins, it still says sending results, so i check the work folder and there's only 3 things in it. So i close the console and then re-open it and it says it's going to retrieve a new work unit. So i go to my folding statistics page and it says that there's too many users trying to connect.

So what happened to my finished WU? Is it gone forever? My statistics page doesn't show it and it's been about 5 hours. After this third one is done, is there something on my computer that will let F@H know there was a WU before it so i get credit, or am i . outta luck? :( this blows

Oh, and my new WU is so fricken big, it's gonna take much longer now :(

If the client for any reason wasn't able to send in the completed WU, that unit is kept in queue and will be sent out whenever the client finishes the next unit and requests to connect to folding servers.

Sometimes it can happen that the servers are overloaded, then your WU does not get sent, but the client receives new work to work on while waiting for another connection to send in WUs.

EDIT: To those who are constantly connected to the internet, the client automatically tries to resend the unsent WU at a certain specific time interval while still working on another unit.

The client retries to send any completed units every 6 hours. This doesn't always work so well for dialup types like myself.

As of the version 4.x clients, it will try to send all units when it finishes a unit. Then right after downloading the next new unit to work on, it will try again to upload any completed units. Also, I'm pretty sure it will try to upload completed units whenever the client is started.

If you are using the CLI version, you can stop it, then relaunch with the -send all flag, which will make it upload right away if it can. I'm not sure how to do this with the graphical version.

Cool, thanks for the info. That's a relief! :)

I have noticed that it can take up to 30mins to send a WU in on dial up. What I would try is get online and just keep checking to see if you are sending info while you are sitting Idle.

Reader50, thanks for the info....i hit send all now and it seems to be sending.

I noticed when i went into my work folder that it had a results file for 02, when i'm working on 03 now :)

bosco, yeah, dialup sucks, but like you said, i do pay attention to the activity lights. Yesterday they just went off and stopped sending, so i assume there was too much traffic with the F@H server, since i also got a message on the stats page.

Done sending now...only took 6 mins :)
