OCit Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Ok alll im looking for is excellent sound quality, the ability to tune the volume level of each satellite, and a drive bay basssiiiccallllyyy. So should I get the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (240 CAD) or what. What would be a good choice. Also, I have a ABiit Max3 so it has built in 5.1 so will i be able to notice a difference in quality because currently the quality is not great (could it be the speakers?). Thanks, Ted
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 The Audigy and Audigy 2 are fantastic cards. They sound quite a bit better than just about every other card out there because of the 24-bit audio. You'd also see an improvement in gaming performance. But just for the record, what speakers do you have?

GTSticky Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 The audigy2 oem card sounds great and costs a lot less than the platinum (which just adds that external piece of junk, right?) Your speakers can be individually tuned through Creative's speaker calibration program. This allows for non-even placement of your surround speakers (I.E. your left rear and right rear do not have to be equidistant from your head). It depends on when you have poor sound quality. If it's all the time, you might check your speaker wiring to see if you wired some speakers "out of phase" (backwards). If you believe that music sounds great, but games sound poor, then you will probably see a big difference in games that support EAX 3 by purchasing the creative card. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-102-158&depa=
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 He said that he wanted the platinum's drive bay. But just as GTStickey said, the card allows for a "lopsided" speaker system. My rear left is much farther away from me than my front right, but It sounds just fine due to the mixer. Also, if you get an audigy I have to put in a plug for the kx audio drivers instead of the creative drivers.
Aristotle Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I am very happy using my Audigy ES OEM card. It is low cost and is just as powerful as the Audigy LS. The only downside to it is that Soundblaster no longer supports the card. So that means no new drivers -_- It is still a very good card for only $42 You might want to check it out on newegg.com. It supports 5.1 speakers if you don't plan on getting any 6.1 or 7.1 speakers anytime soon.
young-joseph Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Logitech 5.1? Logitech has about three 5.1 speaker sets. Z-640 Z-5300 and the Z-680. My bet is you have the 640. Go audigy and get some 680s that can actually get some use out of that sound card.
