cpu coolers

hi there , one of my friends needs a new cpu cooler he uses lga 775

and he asked me which will cool better ocz vendetta 2 or asus silent knight al /ii , i say ocz is better but i want to if there is a better one...

or is there is a another cooler ...?

he does not want to spend much on because he will get i7 860 when in 4 months......?

I think your friend would be wise to choose a cooler that has both the 775 and 1156 mounting so he can carry it over when he gets an i860. 1156 is new so there are fewer coolers that support it but if you look hard enough there are some good ones. Choosing one with support for both lets him enjoy it on his current platform and takes the sting out of the investment knowing he can still use it down the road. You probably can guess what I'm going to recommend but here it is anyway
