Cresil Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I've been reading about this today and I was wondering if I could get some help. I know it's not advised nor will it work on many. I have a Gateway laptop with Intel Pentium M 770 processor 2.13GHz. The motherboard has an Intel i915 chipset. I was wondering if it would be possible to get it to no more than 2.8GHz? NearlyEpic Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 If you can, which i have no idea if you could, you would melt your skin or start a wood table on fire. I don't advise it, considering how hot mine gets at stock.
Kuronin Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I am not even sure if it's possible to OC a laptop, besides, I wouldn't attempt it anyway, seeing as how you cannot use a third party heatsink to adequately cool the processor. xchrissypoox Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 boot your computer go into the bios, if there are no overclocking options then you can't overclock. If you don't know how to get into the bios when your computer is starting press del, or f2, or whatever it says to press. Do not change anything unless you know what you are doing. Report back if it has anything on overclocking. If you have a Dell or HP (or a lot of other laptops) then you can't overclock because A: it reduces battery life, and B: the psu is just enough for your laptop.
