Loai.fahhad Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Hi, A first time poster but I been reading around for a week or so and I keep getting better at this Am building a PC for gaming mainly and few hours of graphic designing – if I get time to learn that one – and of course web browsing, research writings, etc... Wanting the Pc to last long enough before it needs any upgrades (2, 3 years) Tried to look up on the internet and I was amazed with all the new, I always thought I had "general info on PCs " now I realized that my knowledge had been outdated by at least 200 years . But then again am studying in dentistry school and the last PC I built was P4 six years ago –give or take few months! Been using laptops since I entered college but am getting annoyed with small screens ! Decided I'll build it on my own now, apparently brewing cats In a garden is much easier than trying to build a PC without consulting experts like this community these days . Took my time reading the reviews , looked around here and there and came up with this build, did my best narrowing down the list to mostly 2 choices of each component. Sorry for this wall of txt here I go! Case: I'll look for one with good cooling no worries on this one HDD: Western Digital 500 GB, speed 7200 Power Supply: 750 W CPU : either 1. AMD Phenom II X4 945 2. AMD Phenom II x4 955 (I'll try finding the BE one) .Motherboard: .Asus Crosshair III Formula .Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P Graphic Card : : 1. Nvidia GTX 275 2. ATI Radeon HD 4890 Both very close to each others in performance gave myself the option in case any of them would perform better with any of the listed\suggested Motherboards. RAMS : was going with the DDR3 but, I read somewhere that it doesn’t do well the the Phenom II ?-memory reading issues- So am guessing 2x2GB DDR2 1333 \ 1600 ? Monitor: here's my Problem now I want to play the games at a high resolution ,and hate to get an LCD that doesn’t support highest resolution the GPU can offer me Can I get help in what to look for while buying one? 21 LCD – already know the 120 refresh rate and HDMI and that’s about it what else should I be looking for in a monitor That covers it all I guess – any DVD-Rom and my G9\G15 Combo am Super-! thank you in advance and Apologies for the too many options listing regards , Loai. tkrow21 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 The only advantage an HD4890 has over the GTX275 is the price; if the HD4890 is cheaper than the GTX275 in your area, be sure to pick it up

Look for a 955. even if you dont plan on overclocking, its nice to have the feature and possibilities of a black edition cpu
CowKing Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 i'd vote for the GTX 275 just for Physx(even though most games don't use it), that's if they are about the same price
damian Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 The listed motherboards are DDR3 only. And those are ddr3 speeds not ddr2 fyi And there really aren't any issues with DDR3 an phenom II's in fact AM3 chipsets are made to run with ddr3.
