Waco Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 i did not read it by the way, but  5900 http://www.techpowerup.com/106049/AMD_Rele...s_Hemlock?.html They could release the 5870X2 as the 5970 to avoid the stigma of a dual GPU card. Baulten Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 It is really sounding like 59x0 will be the dual GPU variants of 58x0.

Baulten Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 If they label the card as 5970 and 5950 instead of 5870x2 and 5850x2, they might draw in buyers who would see the x2 and go "eewww, dual GPU sucks! I read it on the interwebz!" Nonetheless... I think I'm cancelling my 5870 order and waiting till 5970 launches to see what prices do... TigerDirect claimed the 5870 was in stock when in fact it was back ordered... grr.
N.E.A Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 it is far better to have it like this 5750 5770 5830 5850 5870 5850x2 5870x2 5890 5970 5950 do you agree ..? this way they will have a fleet like this 4830 4850 4870 4890 4870x2

Crazy_Nate Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 wow 14,581 views , come on guys lets beat that topic ( say some thing about the user ) Oh, so that's what you're doing? <_< C'mon - useful posts! At this rate, this thread should be in the members lounge! While we're here, any speculation on the next price drop on the 5870? (blatant attempt to un-hijack!) If NVidia can't start producing cards that scale well to the budget markets...ATI could start driving in some nails, so to speak... The X2 moniker breaks the supposed hierarchy of the cards. The prior lineup: 4830, 4850, 4870, 4870X2, 4890 That numbering is hard to understand and most people would assume that the 4890 is the fastest card... I'm not sure I see them starting to drop the price until nvidia has a card to counter it with. As it stands now it's the most powerful single GPU on the market. If it were nvidia they would charge $600-$800 as they did in the past.
