stupidcha Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I have a mid-tower case and was wanting to change out the HSF for my CPU and GPU also I was thinking about changing the fan in my PSU and the case fan I need help with deciding which will keep my PC the coolest and quietest Computer Specs Q6600 LGA 775 Diamond 4850 4pin (have minimum clearance) 600W Game X Stream Case/PSU Automatic Fan Controls vs. Manual Fan Controls(Recommend me a good controller) Open Case (Side Panel Open) vs. Closed Case Need Recommendations for 120mm Fans for the PSU and 92mm Fans for Case(Needs to be Quiet) CPU HSF Zalman 9700 LED vs. Zalman 9700 NT Zalman 9700 vs. Tower Cooler(must be 90(L) x 124(W) x 142(H) mm or less, if the cooler is taller than 142mm I have to keep case open)[MY BACKPLATE IS STUCK TO MY MOBO SO RECOMMEND COOLERS THAT SCREW IN] GPU HSF Accelero S1R2 + 120mm Fan(Must have Case Open + Fan will be literally 2-3 mm from my sound card) vs. Accelero Twin Turbo(Not sure if it'll fit) vs. VF1000 My Budget is $140 for Auto Fan and $170 for Manual Fan Finally... Can I build a water cooling for $170? Must include cooler for GPU! doubt it but can't hurt to ask. Hope to read some good recommendations
paulktreg Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) First of all I have to ask why? Are you having heat issues? If so where? Well placed case cooling fans can usually solve alot of problems but until we know what they are it will be difficult for anyone to help. Cheers Paul Edited August 23, 2009 by paulktreg

Cheers Paul first off my temps are not where i would like them cpu- idle 55C load 67C gpu- idle 58C load 104C as you can see they're really hot... second the noise is kinda loud don't like the hum zzzz sounds the sounds are coming from mostly the PSU, CPU HSF, 92mm fan on GPU that I've added, and 92mm outtake case fan, also putting the stock GPU fan to 70% to play games is annoying looking for around 20dB for whole machine third don't want to buy a new case unless it'll save me the cost of doing these changes
AIinc Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) The only way your going to get to 20dB or less, is a good water cooling setup! Or phase change. Edited August 24, 2009 by Inteller
rourkchris Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) The Zalman 9700 LED didn't cool my Q6600 as well as I thought it would. There are many many better coolers that are quiet. A Noctua cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835608002 looks like it would fit your needs for both cooling and low noise levels. As for the fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835185086 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835426006 It's hard for me to tell without seeing it but you may want to look into improving your case's airflow as paulktreg suggests. EDIT: The Noctua cooler looks to be too tall at 158mm. Sorry. Edited August 24, 2009 by rourkchris

Sorry. my computer is a inspiron 530 i can post a pic on why i can't fit anything bigger than a 9700 as for airflow if it'll fix my temps i'll buy a new case the 9700 barely fits btw someone else's pic
AIinc Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Well, if you want to go the rout of taking everything out, and installing it into a bigger and better case, I think you'd lower all of your temps considerably! That case is to jam packed for proper air flow! What would your budget be for buying a new computer case? Have a look at this case. I'm sure it would solve your temp problems!
