AIinc Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) 4Gb's is enough anyways! Unless you plan on running a CAD program! With either 2Gb modules, or 1Gb modules Populate slots 1 & 3----or 1-2-3 & 4 Those are your options! I also agree with actionstan! If you can, get a black edition! bernardv Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Read this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-cp...clock,2396.html You have a very good MB, just do a bit of math, set the RAM, NB, HT multipliers right and you should get the exact same result as with a BE. Buying a BE in your situation is a complete waste of money.
AIinc Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Buying a BE in your situation is a complete waste of money. I agree, but I was only saying that if he could return his 945. If he can't return it, then I would just work on what you have!
outer78 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hey alexboy26, I'm following along for the ride. I too have the same board and processor and am looking at overclocking soon. I just need to get a better cooler so that I feel safe doing it. So I was just wondering what cooler you were using? Also I think that you should figure this out soon lol so that its easier for me. bernardv Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Here's where I am, with a stock cooler. But i do get close to 65C under load, so I guess it's the upper limit. I've got a MSI K9A2 Platinum (790FX/SB600 DDR2) board.
Waco Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 4Gb's is enough anyways! Unless you plan on running a CAD program! Running in single channel mode isn't hurting his OC and there are definitely uses of memory past 4 GB (especially with 7 or Vista)! alexboy26 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 guess what guys!!!!! im 3.7ghz now , and it seems i can get really moooore poooooweer wuhuuuuuuuu, buuuuuuut i notice one thing that almost make me cry.. im using the guide posted by bernardv........ everything is stable buuuuuuuuuuuut in the system tab in windows it says... 6.00Gb (3.25 Gb in use)what the heck.!!, maybe is the configuration posted in the guide it says: The FSB/DRAM ratio was lowered to 1:2.66 and memory timings were manually set to 8-8-8-24 2T. and thats what i do.. do u think this is the problem?? thanks
AIinc Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) What operating system are you using Is it a 64bit or a 32bit OS??? Ok, I see your using W7 64bit. In single channel mode, I would think it would recognize all 6 Gb's? Post a pic of cpuz, one of the main tab, and one of the memory tab. Lets see what you got goin on! Also, I noticed your using slots 1-2-&-4 You should always use the slots closest to your cpu, so you should use 1-2-& 3, and leave 4 unused. alexboy26 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) okokok, i populate slots 1,2 and 4 because my ram is for triple channel and i know my cpu didnt support that... so i thought that i was appropiate to separate them 4 gb in pairs then leave one slot and then the other 2 gb stick.. what do u think? AIinc Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 (edited) Normally, slots 1 & 3 are channel A, and slots 2 & 4 are channel B You should always populate channel A first Therefore use slots 1-2 & 3 6.00Gb (3.25 Gb in use)what the heck.!! That means you have 6Gb's of memory, and at that moment your using 3.25Gb's of your 6Gbs. You must have a lot of background programs running. alexboy26 Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 thanks you, and yes i check my ram slots, and everything was backwards hehe , i rearrange them and everything is fine now.. and the 3.25 in use, was a setting that i tweak in windows, everything is working perfect, so im going to continue to get de 4.0ghz wuuu thanks
