Savan Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 When I launch a game that is fullscreen in windows 7, the screen goes black, and the system locks up. alt+f4 doesnt work, alt+tab doesnt work, ctrl+shift+esc doesnt work. I have to do a hard shut down. Im running build 7100 RC. ATI 4870. I tried updating catalyst from 9.6 to 9.7 but that didnt fix it. Any ideas? WhenKittensATK Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 What game is it and have you updated DirectX to the latest? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
Jump4h Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Doesn't DirectX come automatically with the games? Anyway, Win7 is DirectX 11, right? could be related to that somehow
WhenKittensATK Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Game do come with Directx, but in some cases they don't install everything or miss certain files. Like what happened with Arma2.

SenitaL Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 It could be that the game is starting up in a resolution your screen does not support, look for the cfg files or save files if you have any, open them up with notepad, find and modify the parameters which specify the startup screen resolution, the same happens to me when a game starts in 1280x1024 for some strange reason, perhaps its because im using a 26" samsung. Hope that does the trick
