dek_zxcvbnm Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hi guys I'm new here and I've got some problems with my rig.. My rig freezes when i play games like call of duty 4 and 5, and grid.. The rig freezes after playing an hour, sometimes only 10 minutes of playing.. I don't know what the problem is, but before installing a cpu cooler(cooler master v8), there had been no problems at all.. I even played COD 4 for 8 hours straight and finished the singleplayer mode.. It also freezes when i run prime95, maybe after 7 minutes of running the program.. specs: motherboard - gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R processor - intel core 2 quad q9550 RAM - kingston 2 x 2gb 1333mhz 1.5V graphics card - 1x gigabyte geforce GTX 285 hard drive - western digital 500gb power supply - Aopen 1000watts cpu cooler - cooler master v8 chassis - gigabyte isolo 210 I didn't overclock anything(nor changed anything in BIOS)

Verify your memory voltages in BIOS, then run memtest86+ from a bootable CD. I'm gonna try the memtest86+..

hofferbrink Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 How much thermal past did you put on the CPU? using too much can cause problems. also how does your system freeze? hard lock, blue screen of death, video flickering, etc.. dek_zxcvbnm Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 How much thermal past did you put on the CPU? using too much can cause problems. also how does your system freeze? hard lock, blue screen of death, video flickering, etc.. just the right amount of thermal paste.. when it freezes there's a sound looping and i can't do nothing but to shut it down manually, keyboard and mouse doesn't workl either.. potatochobit Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 CPU temps are fine, try reinstalling nvidia drivers. maybe an older version too. the memory on your GPU could be failing... or your hard drive. try running a benchmark like 3dmark vantage see if the computer hangs there could be a conflict your computer never crashes surfing the web, watching videos, right? hofferbrink Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) I would say its the Video card drivers or ram. make sure your ram speeds match what the board supports. also try using roll back drivers for the video card. EDIT: now i found out it crashes when surfing the web or even just doing nothing, no programs running.. I also noticed my G9 mouse, when it freezes, the lights on the mouse turns off, on my PS/2 keyboard there is light but when i press capslock it doesn't light up, its stuck.. IVIYTH0S Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 maybe your motherboards dying out if you're having those weird user input errors. Do you have another machine to test your stuff in, a friend's maybe??
