xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Well my Visiontek 4870 has gone down the drain. I need to figure out what video card to buy to replace it. I will be buying the replacement in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking about an: XFX 4870 1GB XFX 4890 or I'm thinking about buying a GTX 275. I need some help deciding. ccokeman Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 What games do you play? Folding a concern? Have you been happy with the 4870?
xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I play oblivion, FO3, farcry 2, The Witcher, and some others. No folding is not a concern. Yeah, I was happy with the 4870.
ccokeman Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 If it did ll you need then I would say the 4890. It will give you a little more performance headroom . try for one with non stock cooling if you can swing it.
Crazy_Nate Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Down the drain how? Don't Visiontek cards have lifetime warranties?
xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Nope. The one I got only had a one year warranty. At least that is what the side of the box said. I was going to go for the XFX 4890 with double lifetime warranties. Sounds like a good deal to me.

xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Well I guess since it is out of warranty I could try it. Who suggests I do that?

Zertz Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Well I guess since it is out of warranty I could try it. Who suggests I do that? If you're not going to use that oven to cook food again... sure
xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 BY what I keep reading you should be able to cook food in the oven after doing this.
xly15 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Apparently you can also do this in a frying pan. That sounds like a better method to me. Won't mess up the oven.
