Flar Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 So far it looks like a nice build but I would definitely get a bigger monitor, something like this maybe Asus VH226H? After rebate its $150 and you wont regret the extra space. As for cases look at the Cooler Master 690 and the Antec 300 both are $60-70 and are very good cases. pkilway Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 YEah, if that Dell is only a 19 inch monitor, your 4890 is OVERKILL. I'd suggest getting a 22 inch monitor or downgrading your video card to a 4850/4770.

I'd suggest getting a 22 inch monitor or downgrading your video card to a 4850/4770. I will be getting the Asus 21.5" LCD for $150. I do want to stick with HD 4870. I am still having problem deciding on the power supply wattage requirements......I tried different site to calculate it and each of them give a different value....I was thinking of getting something like 500-600watt....will that be enough? pkilway Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 A nice quality 650watt unit will have no problems deliverying the power you need. I'd suggest an Antec, Corsair, PC&C or Seasonic.

Jonsp Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I use an OCZ StealthXstream 600W with my GTX275 and it runs great. Quiet too.
tkrow21 Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Hi. I'm assuming the 21.5" screen is 1080P? If so, I would recommend an HD4890 for your needs.
IVIYTH0S Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 CPU:Phenom II 940 X4 Board:790X/790GX/790FX (make sure to get SB750) Memory: DDR2 800mhz 4-4-4-12 or DDR2 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 (whichever'd be cheaper) You won't see any difference between the 955 and 940 since both are unlocked multipliers so even though the 955 starts at 16x doesn't mean anything and it'd be childs play to overclock the 940 up to that level or beyond. with the saved money you could pick up a nice 4890 which would be a good performance jump over the 4870 (unlike the jump from a 940 to 955)
