Mini PCIe to PCI adaptor?

Recommended Posts

Ok this is the SSD I have: http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/pexp1-rx1...35.html#options

This is the adaptor I want to plug into my desktop and use: http://www.frys.com/product/5760322?site=s...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Would it work?

Also these two websites look the same is this a scam?

Link1:http: http://www.bplus.com.tw/Adapter/MP1.html

Link2:http: http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/MP1.html

Edit sorry for double link post

Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty sure that the adapter you showed at first, this one, will not work. Its just a riser, and doesn't fit mini-pcie cards. The two other sites, man that's suspicious. Don't really know what to say about that besides don't trust them.

Yea about the two sites they do seem quite suspicious... I was about to pay with paypal, but then i decided to find if i could find the item for a lower price and thats when i bumped into the other website that looked identical.

Is there another adaptor that I can use to be able to see the Mini PCIe SSD on my desktop?

Your first two links are the wrong way round which is a little confusing! ;)

Why not just get in touch with Fry's tomorrow and ask them, I'm sure if you explain exactly what you want to do they will have the necessary hardware.

Cheers

What you are looking for is probably this but dang that is expensive. It would be easier to just sell the PCIe SSD and buy a SATA one.

Yea I saw that version but its way to expensive. I found a $25 version on the website that looks like a scam. Im gonna check and make sure its legit before i buy the card.

why do you want to do this at all?

if you're looking for 2.5" SSD performance, you'll be disappointed. the 320GB WD you're using currently is no doubt faster than your SSD.

Sequential Read: up to 40MB/s

Sequential Write: up to 15MB/s

You might do better booting from a usb drive to a linux liveOS or even to windows xp/pe through UBCD4WIN on the EEEpc. UBCD4Win has some virus scanners in it. Easy to do and better than spending some cash :thumbs-up:
