ccokeman Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 This thing has just developed a seriosly annoying high pitched whine. Ive had it about 4 months now and this is the first time i have heard it . Anybody else had this problem? Any recommendations for something better! the only thing i really need to control is the tornado. Paranoid Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 I just got my Nexus, and haven't had any problems yet. Is the noise constant, or only @ certain speeds? I have mine controlling 3 tornadoes, and only get a high pitched sound when I am increasing the speed of one of the fans. It's the fan that is held on by elecrtrical tape (I broke the fan bracket). What is the model # of your Nexus?
d3bruts1d Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Not had any problems from any of the nexuses, other than the one I blew up.
ccokeman Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 I think it an np201 5.25 bay size . I have 4 80mm lighted fans 2 120mm lighted fans and my tornado on it . suppossed to do 18 watts a channel but ........ The noise is the same all the time fans up down or in between. I run my tornado at 3500rpm most of the time so it shouldnt be overloaded. Â Â How did you blow it up D3?
kobalt Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Probably one of the potentiometer that needs to be changed, it's the part that reduces the amount of juice going to the fan thus reducing the speed. it must be louder when you turn down the speed of the fan to the lowest setting. But it shouldn't do that if you can still return it do so,cause in the long run it will completely fail
ccokeman Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Is there any thing better? I've read somewhere that sunbeams will handle more wattage per channel. I want something that will not get noisy in the long term.Funny saying that cuz i can handle the fan noise its just the whine thats killing me. Thanks
kobalt Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 (edited) Sunbeams can handle 20W per but your problem can occur in any fan speed controller it's just bad luck that it had to fall on you, most of the time they dont make any noise or barely audible Edited January 5, 2004 by kobalt
