Asus A7n8x Onboard Audio Problem

Recommended Posts

I did a search and found nothing here or at Asus....

My onboard audio is crackling during game play and when the Windows XP OS sounds playback they are a little garbled then become ok.

Any ideas as to why?

:withstupid:

Mine only crackles if there is excessive IDE activity like I am installing something or ripping a CD, but I doubt you are doing any of that ALL the time, so I would suggest updating your drivers at ASUS too.

I had the same problem with my old MSI-mobo with AC97-soundcard built-in. I had a USB ADSL (and still do) and everytime I downloaded something and listened to mp3s, the sound skipped a lot. I bought a cheap Soundblaster card and de-activated the built-in audio. Worked like a charm. =)

You'll find that onboard sound eats up more CPU cycles than a PCI sound card will. It doesn't matter what onboard system you use.

I used to have trouble with my onboard audio with one of my motherboards. Can't remember which motherboard, as I have had about a dozen in the last 6 months. I bought a Sound Blaster Live, and haven't had any problems since. It was cheap too. :D
