Sapphire 4890 Atomic/Vapor-X

Recommended Posts

Were these limited supply or something I have googled everywhere for them and I can't find them anywhere! I really want the single 4890 but I don't have watercooling to get that 1GHz core clock, then I stumbled across a review of the Atomic 4890 and that was just what I wanted. Any help would be great

Hm $300 doesn't sound too bad considering I read that it beats the GTX280 in most benchmarks. Plus I have a crossfire motherboard. The only thing that would really get me pissed is if I got a 1GHz 4890 now and then in a year or so if I wanted to go crossfire if they didn't make them anymore I'd have to downclock to the regular 4890 settings, which would mean I spend the extra hundred or so dollars for nothing. I think I might go with the 900MHz or 950Mhz models and just try to OC as high as possible.

Just found a model by PowerColor that has 950MHz core and a ZEROTHERM cooler too. It's on sale for $70 off and another $20 after MIR. This is Canadian btw. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=39249 I would just go ahead and scoop this up but I have heard complaints from others who have bought PowerColor cards and this card doesn't seem to have any reviews from any of the retailer feedback or websites in general.

Edit: also just wanted to mention that after further looking at the ATOMIC card it comes with everything you would normally get plus an HDMI cable... not too shabby considering the ridiculous prices of those cables. (By the way when I worked at Best Buy I got everything at cost plus 10% and I paid $4 for an HDMI cable after taxes... they really get you charging $50 per cable.)

yeah see THAT's a deal, but just because it beats or equals the 280 doesn't mean it has to adopt it's obnoxious pricing

Haha yes I understand where you are coming from. I think I'm just going to go ahead an order this one and be the guinea pig for it lol. I haven't seen a review on it yet but the non-reference cooler puts me a little more at ease.

The Atomic are limited edition cards but the Toxic is readily available and clocks almost as high on air. Do i like the Atomic 4890 ...yes I do! Do i like the Toxic Just as much because the difference in max clock was not that bad and the performance genrated was close to the same.

Plus both my Toxic 4870 1gb cards came with 3dmark Vantage Advanced edition... plus a few other things I never used.

The atomic simply is the same card as the regular and toxic just with even higher factory OC than the toxic... and wow an hdmi cable.... I got a 15 foot w/ gold connections for $6.90 of monoprice.com

P.S. Wow now its $5.47 for one: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product....=1&format=2
