RaPiDo987 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) Hey guys! I was using riva tuner on my 260 but now every time i overclock it and hit ok, it goes back to its original stock clocks... I open up GPU-z and there's no difference between the stock and overclock clocks.... Does any one know why? What are other programs i can use to overclock my card? Thanks! ir_cow Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 you have to hit "apply" not the ok button.
RaPiDo987 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 you have to hit "apply" not the ok button. LOL... We'll I figure out what was wrong... I unlink the core clock from the shader and it wouldn't let me overclock the core clock unless I raise the shader....

maj0rgamer Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 evga precision is a really good overclocking program for nvidia graphics cards... it works for other brand cards besides evga too.
IVIYTH0S Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 evga precision is a really good overclocking program for nvidia graphics cards... it works for other brand cards besides evga too. ya, that was my favorite program for it's simplicity. I wish it worked with my 4870x2, since RivaTuner is nice but I have no use for all those millions of features it has and just want simple OC'n and fan control. I wish ATItool would get updated
RaPiDo987 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 So I used the program to overclock my card. Then I used OCCT to check it's stabily.... I got it to overclock too 715/1400/1200. Any higher, I get errors on OCCT... DO those errors count for anything? When I test it with evga precision, it states the drivers passes when I go higher...? Thanks

Thanks it may count but I usually clock until games become unplayable. I don't care what tests say, I OC for better gaming settings

Thanks Most of the time a GPU won't artifice until it hits a certain temp... you might have to play for an hour of two to see anything. If OCCT finds errors, you can bet it WILL artifice at some point. Maybe not in any games you currently play, but at some point it will. As long as you don't play for a period of time with a GPU artificing it won't be a problem. Just play your games, and if you see glitches back the clock speed off some. No biggie. RaPiDo987 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Sweet!! Is there a difference between gaming 1920 x 1080 and lower resolutions? When I lower my resolution, I can over clock the card a little more... why is that?

When I lower my resolution, I can over clock the card a little more... why is that? because your card is working less (because lower resolutions look worse) it's instability won't appear if the card isn't really being stressed, that's why it doesn't go unstable at desktop. you have to really put stress on the card to find out if the settings are stable
