Also wheres the best place to get 4010 mounting tape. And also whats the best way to mount a piece of plexi to a window rivets or tape, and how can i get the tape on if i have u channel around the edge i cut? I Wouldn't use tape. If you have Window molding around the hole you should be able to mount the plexi into that. Dont use rivets on plext unless you have uber l33t skillz like me. I Make a Bushing with an ID the same as the OD of the rivet, but very thin walled from aluminium or steel, and then insert this into the hole in the plexi, this way when you do the riveting you wont crack the plexi. Other way would be to get some tihicker plexi bits, drill and tap them then bond to the window spaced out around the edge and use machine screws to fix the window... I've come a bit of a way since i last posted my mods on here... Now i look at everything from a car modification point of view, and as such, everything has to be strong... haha Go buy a dremel. Best investment (tool) you will EVER make.

Nasha Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 You can get 4010 mounting tape here mnpctech Also, explains how to install the window with the tape and U channel, and the tools used. Honestly, unless you are going to be seriously abusing your case I doubt the tape will make any difference in durability. hardnrg Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Tools: Jigsaw with blades for metal ~22 Teeth Per Inch (you can cut metal, plastic, acrylic (plexi) with these blades) Mains powered drill, with a low speed gearbox, and tungsten-carbide holesaws (slightly smaller than the fan that you are cutting for, e.g. 114mm holesaw for 120mm fan holes) - I love my 1100W Ryobi 2 gear Mains powered rotary tool (e.g. Dremel) with an assortment of grinding, sanding, cutting bits, etc unless you plan modding in a field, don't buy battery powered tools I cut my left panel with a jigsaw, and then sanded/painted it along with the rest of the case, then I used a high power viscous glue that bonds to metal and plastic (among other things) If I used U-channel edging on a window hole, I'd probably mount the panel with double sided foam tape (it's used to mount signage, mirrors, etc) as it's extremely strong and near-impossible to remove (you'd probably break the acrylic window if you tried)
Blackninja543 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Two questions, about how much did you pay for the jigsaw and where did you get it. Also the fiberglass filler you used what exactly was it and how did you apply it.
hardnrg Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I got a 300W mains powered jigsaw as part of a "My First PowerTool Kit" It consists of a folding workbench (like a Black & Decker WorkMate), a crappy cheap 600W drill (that set on fire when I tried using it with a 114mm holesaw through my case - it's pretty tough steel), the 300W jigsaw, an orbital sander (I forget the power, but it's certainly not lacking), and a bunch of sanding sheets, for like
