KK_ Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 ive OCed my FSB from 333mhz -> 375mhz (x8) with my Q8400 ive noticed my ram frequency has changed with the FSB and now is sitting on 375. there DDR2 800mhz G.skill 5.5.5.15 im quiet new to Overclocking , any clarification on whats happening here? i would like to get the most out of my parts without shortening there life that much (as im sure everyone else does)
Zertz Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 RAM speed is proportional to FSB. In your case, the ratio is 1:1. DDR = Double Data Rate so your RAM is actually running at 750 MHz. So without touching anything else, you can move the FSB up to 400 MHz without clocking the RAM past its spec As long as you don't crank up the voltages too much, it won't affect lifespan
00stevo Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Look in your bios for ram dividers. They look like 2.40,2.50.2.00 etc.Selecting one will bring your ram almost exactly to 800.
