ok first I am looking for a laptop for around a 1300$ budget. can be a bit more or a bit less. But I am looking for it to be pretty good. like being able to play games such as farcry 2, assassins creed, bioshock etc... a screen size of 15.4 to 17inches. and looks of laptop kinda matter.

Im open to any retail store and website (newegg, bestbuy, tigerdirect, alienware etc...)

also my question on win 7. I know its coming out soon but I have heard about if you buy any computer after a certain date, like june 26th or july 1st, then when win 7 comes out, you can upgrade for free?

How does that work? If I bought a laptop on newegg on whatever date it is when win 7 comes out do I just dl it?

Thanks. :)

huh 17 inch!! ==

HD4870 is overkill for you.

Don't buy from system builders (IMO) they are normally very expensive.

If you are going to run Windows 7 go with a Quad Core. I think a Core i7 is good for your budget.

I'd have to agree. Gaming on laptops is not worth it because usually gaming laptops cost a ton of money and typically there only good for 1-2 years and then parts become old and they can't stand up to the latest games. Plus you usually can't upgrade (I wouldn't recommend it either because it voids the warranty) laptops video cards or CPU's, or motherboards so you end up having to buy a whole new very expensive laptop again every 1-2 years if you want to keep playing games. If you want to play games I'd suggest building a computer because it will cost you less to build a gaming computer then buying a gaming laptop and you'll be able to upgrade it when needed.

I agree you will have better preformance for the same price (even if you have to buy a screen) and you will be able to keep the parts you can re-use.
