XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I recently updated the BIOS on my motherboard to the most recent release which came out about a week ago. It added better support for Phenom II procs (i can see my core temps now) but also added some problems. For one, I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes, but previously I had Advanced Clock Calibration set to auto, now when I turn it on my motherboard doesn't POST. I haven't noticed a difference in stability so that's not biggie. However, a temperature has changed drastically. TMPIN0 (according to CPUID HW Monitor) is 93C. Previously it was in the low or high 40s depending on load. Now it's been going from 89C to 93C. I'm pretty certain it's the Mosfets because the NB is 28C and my cpu is 52C under load. is 93C ok for mosfets? I'm getting my new cooler in a couple days and I'm planning on pushing my cpu further. Currently at 3.5GHz @ 1.4v with the stock cpu cooler. If there was a way to cool these, say possibly being able to buy a heatsink to fit on there, would it help? Thanks in advance. ocre Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I dont know for sure but there is another guy on a different forum who has really messed up temps as well. Under load his core temps read in the 50s and one of his cpu temp is saying 78c and higher. I really dont think its the the cpu sensor its reading but he say it is. He has a foxcon. I wouldnt be sure if the temps only got higher when u updated the bios
XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 (edited) yea, but the temp is named AUX under Everest, I'm just trying to figure out what would have changed. It's up to 95C now under two SMP and a gpu FAH instance, CPU is 52C with 64C core temps, and NB is 28C. So my guess is, either it's an error and it's reading the temp too high, or it wasn't working correctly before and now I'm getting the true temps of the mosfets. After all, they have no heatsinks and the cpu heatsink dumps it's heat right onto them. I think I would just watch it and not worry to much
XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) ok, but still I would like to know about purchasing heat sinks possibly? Could someone point me in the right direction? XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Would something like this work? http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/swiftech-mc...nk-p-16348.html
Zertz Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) Try setting up a fan to blow on them before buying anything, it might not even be that or simply a bad reading. Even 93C is hot, FETs can handle it. Reducing Vcore will of course help decrease those temps Edited June 15, 2009 by Zertz
XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) yea, that's something I'm kind of worried about though. I'll be getting my Dark Knight in a couple days and I'm going to be kicking up the vcore to OC. I'll try doing stuff that would make the temps change and see if they do or not. If I were to say... reduce my cpu to stock clocks and vcore (1.325) think I would see a noticeable difference in temps? XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Ok, i lowered the voltage and the temps are staying stead at 92C at idle. I think it's safe to say this is just an error then? Thanks

Thanks Did you try setting up a fan to blow on the VRM? They don't work hard at idle, how high does it get when the CPU is under full load?
