tkrow21 Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 What do you think about a GTX275? It's cheaper, runs cooler, and I bet it'll run Crysis better.

In Crysis, the GTX275 does beat the HD4870X2, but not in the other games. The reason is because Crossfire in general is horrible in Crysis. However, all your other games will run perfectly fine above 60FPS maxed out with both cards (yes, you will get higher frames with the 4870X2, but it won't be noticable, however, the increase in Crysis with the GTX275 WILL be noticable). And 2 4870X2's? Are you kidding me? * Just get Waco to tell you how bull crap the scaling is in Crysis. iOverclock Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Build looks good. Good choices but i dont reckon you need 4870x2 to run sims. 0_0 Why not save a bit and get a 4890 or 2 4850's but thats what i think.

_TheAlexO Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Your right its not needed to play the Sims . BUT, needed to player crysis on high/very high 1920x1080. I want to get something a little too powerful at the moment because i dont want to HAVE to upgrade till about this time next year. Coors Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 I would get the 940 over the 955. The 955 isn't really worth the price premium.

And dude, if you don't want to get a GTX275, fine. But my 4850 plays all those games great except for Crysis on high, and I feel I won't need an upgrade for a year. I am wanting a more powerful machine so im going to sell my current system with the 940 and buy this machine above. If someone can put together a Core i7system around the same price range and post it on here, i would consider that to. but i am not familiar enough with the x58 motherboards and triple channel ram to do it myself. Coors Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 With a 940 your only 'real' upgrade would be an i7. Going from a 940 to a 955 wouldn't be worth it. I doubt you'd even feel a real difference. If you keep your planned build the same but swap the cpu, mobo and ram I would go with these: cpu - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115202 mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813186169 ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231247 A bit more money I think then what you have atm but you can get the Gigabyte board for about $200 I think and if yo uhave a Fry's or Microcenter I think they still have the $240 i7 920's. TBH though I would stick with the 940 you have. What about your current system do you find lacking? You might just want to upgrade the gpu and call it a day.
