data partition for multiple OS's

I just got a TB hard drive, and Im going to install Win7 RC on it. Im planing on giving Win7 a 75gb partition and using the rest for data space. If do that, will I be able to access the data partition when I boot from the primary drive that has vista on it?

or will I need to put 2 partitions on the drive? 1 for Win7, 1 for Win7's data, and 1 for Vista's Data?

You don't need separate data partitions for each OS. If you do three partitions on one drive (one for Vista, one for Win7, and one for data), both OSs will be able to see the data partition. I do this on many of my machines.
