Running DDR2 sticks on DIMM2 slots

Recommended Posts

I running my two Kingston HyperX T1 Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 on the second set of Dimms slots. They are running on DUAL mode. Will running my ram of the second set of Dimms affect my performance... ?

Sorry for the newb question...

Thanks for your time...

as long as the ram is in the same coloured dimms they should be the same, although some board prefer them in one set of dimms over the other.

All i can say is try and see if it does affect the preformance.

Wow.. if thats ur comp, I dont think u have much choice of the ram placement. It looks like ur cpu cooler is massive and blocking the 1st set of ram slots.

:) That's the main reason why I used the second set of Dimms...

I don't see what your question is. Since they are both installed in the yellow slots, you are good to go. The only way they would not be running in dual channel would for one stick to be in the yellow and one in the orange.

Ahh, now i see your question. no, it does not matter that technically the yellow is the "2nd" set. Close enough for gubbermint work. As long as DDR is being used in pairs and you are using the correct pair, you will be running at the correct DDR speed.
