dling Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 are there any vga cards out , that are using DDR 2 now ? i may be in the market for new card, and thats what i want.
TypicalSloan Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 I think nvidia's 5700 ultra uses ddr2, and the 5950 ultra probably as well. Im too lazy to research all thier cards for you but im pretty sure about those. Ati doesnt use DDR2 yet so nvidia would be your only choice. dling Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 man, i was hoping ati had started using ddr 2 , went to "toms hardware guide" in almost all cases, the ati cards did better, on their benchmarks. mabe i'll just wait.
Paranoid Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 the 9800XT uses DDR2 memory. Compare the 9800XT and 9800Pro @ this link  http://apps.ati.com/ATIcompare/
Dignan Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Looks like DDR1 to me.... Â EDIT The 9800 pro 256meg does... Updated screeny
Paranoid Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Sorry, I meant the 9800Pro 256MB
bigred Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 ati's got it backwards   the 128mb version is ddr2, it was too expensive to put 256mb of ddr2 on a card so they switched back to ddr1
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 And that's why the 128 meg version overclocks better
Dignan Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 I don't know, the FireGL 256P based off the 9800pro board also is said to have DDRII
Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 But the thing costs a WHOLE bunch more than just a regular 9800pro 256mb.
bigred Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 And that's why the 128 meg version overclocks better and tends to hold its own with the 256mb card at stock speeds
dling Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 so, after all the debate, its the 9800 pro w/128 of ram that has ddr2? i dont think it does, not sure any more.
