error when installing games

so i tried installing gta 4 a week ago didnt work so i took it back and got it off steam works like a charm i was bored and wanted to reinstall assassins creed but when i got towards the end i got the same error as i got on gta 4 something like data error- (cyclic redundancy check). spoke to a few people said i should buy a cd lens cleaner for the disc drive if that doesnt work wut should i do buy a new dvd drive? or could this be something else. if it comes down to buying a new dvd drive id like it if u could show me a good one, anyway i trust these forums more then anyone plz i need help!

From the sound of it, it is a drive problem, either that or both gta4 and assassin's creed's cds were bad, which is unlikely, though if you didn't want to wait for your new drive (if you order one that is) you could torrent the game and use your key code, I've had to do that with several game because my was limited to cd only but now I have a new drive. As for recommending a new one, this one seems to have good reviews and is inexpensive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827140032
